Outcrop on Southern Slope of Faw Mount
The hill names in the Pentlands are so old that most of their meanings remain obscure. According to the very well-written Pentlands Placenames pdf document online, Faw could mean speckled or fallow, but this sounds like a bit of guesswork to me! A weatherstation is situated at the summit.
