St Peter's Church, Duntisbourne Abbots
The parish church of Duntisbourne Abbots, a village which together with the neighbouring hamlet of Duntisbourne Leer takes its name from the Duntisbourne, a tributary of the River Churn at the head of the Thames catchment.
In the middle ages, both settlements belonged to abbots, Duntisbourne Leer was the property of the abbey of Lyre in Normandy whereas the village here had a more local landlord, the abbot of Gloucester.
