Memorial to Captain James Dacres Belgrave
Memorial to Captain James Dacres Belgrave
The Belgrave family had a very long association with North Kilworth and this highly polished tablet in St Andrew's Church commemorates one of its members. James Dacres Belgrave 'the beloved second son of Dalrymple James and Isabel Belgrave' was killed in action in June 1918. He was awarded the Military Cross after being wounded at Loos and subsequently became a pioneer in the Royal Flying Corps, achieving 18 victories against German aircraft, the last of which claimed his life.
