A view taken from the first floor of the Tall Pavilion in Westbury Court Garden. The involvement of the Colchester family with this place began when Duncombe Colchester bought Westbury Court in 1547. Between 1696 and 1705 Maynard Colchester had designed and built this Dutch style water garden, now the only surviving example in Britain. During the late 18th century landscaped gardens and parks became more popular following the appearance of Lancelot 'Capability' Brown on the horticultural stage. Time photo taken not available.
