Longmoor Military Railway
Longmoor Military Railway
WD 118 Brussels is an 0-6-0ST built by Hudswell Clarke to a Hunslet design in 1945, and used on the LMR until its closure in 1969. It is now (2021) preserved and stored on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway - see - SE0335 : Longmoor Military Railway 118 'Brussels'.. In common with some other LMR locos, it is an oil burner.
391 of these locos were built for the War Department, 75 of which were bought by the LNER after the war, becoming BR class J94. Others were used on industrial sites. At least 70 remain, which must make them the most numerous steam loco class in Britain. See SU7931 : 'Errol Lonsdale' at Longmoor, 1969 for a colour view of classmate 196.
