River Nanny and The Mote, Laytown
The tumulus on a bluff on the north bank of the River Nanny is known as The Mote. During remedial work on the mound in 1979, by the National Parks and Monuments branch of the Office of Public Works, two burials were uncovered which were dated to c. 3rd-5th centuries AD.
