A Door to Nowhere
A funny place, the countryside, sometimes. I didn't go through it, just in case it led to another dimension!
Situated in a very small wood between someone's garden fence and a couple of drains that used to mark an old parish boundary.
I suppose, strictly speaking, they still mark the parish boundary, as although they ceased to have any administrative function after 1930 in Scotland, when the parish councils' duties were taken over by the larger county councils (or unitary authorities as they are now officially called), they are still used in censuses and other occasional statistical studies. This is simply because they have been used for so long in studies that they provide the easiest way to compare past and present.
