taken 3 years ago, near to Peterstone Wentlooge, Newport/Casnewydd, Wales

Seaward side of Peterstone Gout
Seaward side of Peterstone Gout
The gout is a 'flap' that opens only at low water to allow freshwater to flow out into the sea. The modern version is a sluice and the water flows into the muddy Gout Fawr Pill. The Wales Coast Path runs along the sea wall. To the right is the channel from New Quay Gout.
