Clearly visible through an open gateway from the old drove road up Loups's Hill, this large earthfast rock clearly has at least five cup-marks on this face, two of them very prominent, but is not documented in the reference for this area. The far side
NY9717 : Cup-marked rock, Sunny Brow also has a very distinct line of eight evenly-spaced holes which do not appear natural although they do follow a line of apparent weakness. It seems inconceivable that anyone surveying this area (there are a dozen prehistoric rocks nearby, some quite hard to identify) would miss this rock (we'd been looking for some of the others, weren't expecting to see one here, and noticed it immediately), so perhaps it has been concluded that the markings are not ancient, but I'm still surprised that the rock is not mentioned.
