Three Cairns, Coldsmouth Hill
Three Cairns, Coldsmouth Hill
The three cairns which adorn the summit of Coldsmouth Hill are relatively modern additions and distract the attention away from the remains of two large Bronze Age burial cairns which have occupied this place for nigh on 3,000 years. A 1929 excavation of the northern cairn uncovered cremated bone, a flint knife and a bronze dagger. For a selection of detailed free to download walking routes in the area visit LinkExternal link
