SO9422 : The Queen's Hotel
taken 3 years ago, near to Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England
The Queen's Hotel
The Queen's Hotel is one of Cheltenham's premier hotels and stands at the southern end of the Promenade. Before the hotel was built it was the site of Sherborne Spa, which by the 1830s was running out of water. The Queen's Hotel was built in 1837-8, and David Verey in the Pevsner architectural guidebook suggests its design resembles certain Neoclassical Russian buildings in St Petersburg.
