The Pennine Way heading north towards the Tan Hill
Even though the weather was dreadful when I walked the full length of the Pennine Way in 1974 it was not as foul as this, and we took shelter for a couple of hours in the Tan Hill Inn (seen here in the distance) more from the wind than today's mixture of sleet and low cloud. In view of the conditions, the destination for this walk is not as distant as England's highest (and bleakest) pub, but merely a previously unvisited square to the east. The dog was quite reluctant to get out of the car but much more enthusiastic about the return journey an hour later.
