SD6497 : Long Rigg Gill

taken 3 years ago, 3 km from Lowgill, Cumbria, England

Long Rigg Gill
Long Rigg Gill
This view looks down Long Rigg Gill towards its confluence with Long Rigg Beck beyond which lies the end of the spur down which a bridleway descends from White Fell. A rather off-piste route from that bridleway has brought us to this point, crossing the end of the spur between the streams, rather predictably named Long Rigg. We're now following sheep tracks to a col north of Brown Moor, the slopes on the right of the photo, from where a straightforward route, mostly in descent, will take us back to the parking place north of Fairmile gate, one of the few places to start and finish a walk on the very narrow minor road from Sedbergh to Low Borrowdale.
