SD8487 : Gate on the Cam Road

taken 3 years ago, near to High Houses, North Yorkshire, England

Gate on the Cam Road
Gate on the Cam Road
As it leaves the plateau in the distance, the West Cam Road (named to distinguish it from the Cam High Road, further east with a high point maybe 5m higher) is abandoned by the Pennine way and transforms itself into just the Cam Road on its descent to the Ingleton to Hawes main road. That this is a Byway Open to All Traffic was abundantly clear today as an almost constant stream of mountain bikes, trail bikes, quad bikes and the odd four-wheel-drive car travelled past on the first warm day of spring which also happened to coincide with an easing of Coronavirus lockdown at a weekend.
