This wooden sculpture by the River Wye depicts a bulldog named Dan, and he drowned in the River Wye in 1898 while Edward Elgar was walking him across the banks of the river. The dog belonged to Dr George Robertson Sinclair, then organist at Hereford Cathedral.
SO5039 : Hereford Cathedral Sadly however the many reincarnations of this west front over the years has left us now with this incongruous neo-Gothic facade dating from 1902-08AD.
