Monsal Dale railway station (site), Derbyshire, 1982
Opened in 1866 by the Midland Railway on the line from Matlock to Buxton and Manchester, this station closed to regular passenger traffic in 1959 and completely in 1961.
View south east towards Great Longstone and Matlock. The former south-bound platform would have been to the left of the image but being built of timber, had long-since disappeared, even by the time of this image. The former railway line is now the Monsal trail footpath.
