TM2832 : Landguard peninsula, from the north
taken 3 years ago, 3 km from Felixstowe, Suffolk, England
Landguard peninsula, from the north
This area of apparently scrubby land is actually the edge of a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), featuring a rare coastal ecology.
The mounds in the middle distance are not, as they appear, sand dunes, but actually former rifle butts: the whole Landguard peninsula has a long military history and rifle shooting was practised towards these mounds, sometimes across as much as 600 yards.
On the right, the edge of the Port of Felixstowe.
