SO7204 : Red-eyed Tree Frog

taken 3 years ago, near to Moorend, Gloucestershire, England

Red-eyed Tree Frog
Red-eyed Tree Frog
This tiny frog has its eyes closed but when disturbed, it will open its startling red eyes and flash its blue and yellow side stripes in order to startle predators and create a few extra seconds for it to leap away. Because they don't have toxic skin, these frogs rely on camouflage and staying very still to avoid being seen and eaten.
