NS8458 : Former Urinals in Wood

taken 3 years ago, near to Hartwood, North Lanarkshire, Scotland

Former Urinals in Wood
Former Urinals in Wood
The urinals are no longer in the concrete block but the markings are still visible inside.
Old maps provide a possible reason for their seemingly out-of-place position. There is a huge stunning derelict former nurses' home West of here, which was tied to the former nearby asylum. The asylum was once the largest in Europe, and the home housed 420 nurses. They had their own bowling green and tennis courts between the wood and their stunning-looking quarters. So I'm guessing it was there to save ten minute breaks in games when the men just had to go!
