Southwold Pier

The pier was built in 1900 as a landing stage for steamships that brought tourists from London, Clacton and Great Yarmouth. It was originally 250 metres (820 feet) in length, the end of the pier was destroyed during a storm in 1934. After a major refurbishment in 1999-2002, it is now 190 metres (620 ft) in length. The pier includes a collection of modern coin-operated novelty machines designed and constructed by the inventor Tim Hunkin.
