Fell House can be noted in the distance, to the right of shot. In the foreground, one of two lead smelt mill flues crossing moorland from Allendale, this one dating from 1835-37. The flue is some two-and-a-half miles in length. Despite being ruinous in sections, the incredible work of the stonemasons can still be appreciated.
