On St Catherine's Hill, Winchester
The pinkish-mauve flowers in the foreground are those of hemp agrimony (Eupatorium cannabinum). It's not a species I've met with elsewhere on the downs - though it grows here in some abundance. It looks not unlike commercially grown cannabis, but it is smaller and much less hairy.
Down in the Itchen valley is St Cross, with its fortress-like church tower. Just to the right is the 'hospital' - or almshouses.
