The font is medieval, but the cover is obviously a later addition.
St Martin's church, Welton le Wold

A church dates back to Saxon times, and was mentioned in the Domesday Book. The tower is the oldest and original part of the current church, dating from the 14th Century. The village of Welton was larger then, but was ravaged by the Black Death in the late 14th century.

In the 19th Century it was decided to restore the church and add a north aisle, the rest of the church was demolished and rebuilt, the architect was S.S. Teulon, aged 36 at the time.
The font and a 15th C. grave slab were retained.
The church reopened in 1851.

There are 3 ancient bells in the tower, two from the mid 15th C. and a tenor cast in 1728.

There is no pipe organ, and limited stained glass.
