The Great Hospital on Bishopgate in Norwich comprises a collection of buildings with fifteen of them being EH listed - many at Grade I (see links below).
It was founded in 1249 by Bishop Walter de Suffield. The original beneficiaries were aged priests, poor scholars and sick and hungry paupers of the area. It has provided such 'sheltered accommodation' since that time to the current day, see their own website here Link
