These single-storey almshouses known as 'The White Houses' are from 1826. They are of yellow brick with stone dressings and have hipped slate roofs. Their most noticeable feature is the six tall 4-shafted brick chimneys at their hip apex.

The Great Hospital, Norwich :: TG2308

The Great Hospital on Bishopgate in Norwich comprises a collection of buildings with fifteen of them being EH listed - many at Grade I (see links below).
It was founded in 1249 by Bishop Walter de Suffield. The original beneficiaries were aged priests, poor scholars and sick and hungry paupers of the area. It has provided such 'sheltered accommodation' since that time to the current day, see their own website here LinkExternal link
