Ruined building on Elmley Marshes
Elmley Island National Nature Reserve on the Isle of Sheppey in North Kent teems with wildlife, including the country’s largest lowland collection of breeding waders. It is about as remote as you can be near London. It is one of the largest bird reserves in England.
This is near the western side of the island. This part of the island was once a hive of activity with a cement works, a wharf, a small industrial village and a riverside pub called The Globe. Little is left, just a few overgrown ruins as here. See
