SO8405 : Modern Boundary Marker, Stroud, canal

taken 3 years ago, near to Stroud, Gloucestershire, England

Modern Boundary Marker, Stroud, canal
Modern Boundary Marker, Stroud, canal
At Walbridge lower lock. Carved from the off-cut of the Dudbridge lower lock arm. The arm was too long to swing round because of the width of the modern bridge. Hence the white paint. It is carved in eke, a durable wood in water. It marks the end of the Stroudwater and the start of the Thames & Severn.
