Ireland in Ruins Pt III: Brittas House, Co. Laois (1)
A grand entrance to a former grand house was via this three-storey over basement tower, the sole remains today of a detached country house, built in 1869 for Major-General Francis Plunkett Dunne, and destroyed by fire in 1942. It was built to a design by John McCurdy, and extended ten years later by Millar and Symes. LinkExternal link
