'Clan Line' at Kingscote
'Clan Line' at Kingscote
No.35028 'Clan Line' was built at Eastleigh Works in 1948.

The Merchant Navy Class locomotives were equipped with the unusual 6 ft 2 in Bulleid Firth Brown (BFB) driving wheels, both lighter and stronger than the spoked equivalent.

The wheel axel is dated 1947, with the rod dated 29-6-56; probably as a result of a complete class re-build, following an incident on 24 April 1953, when the crank axle on the central driving wheel, of No. 35020 'Bibby Line', fractured whilst approaching Crewkerne station at speed.
