Cooling Tower Demolition at Drakelow Power Station
Cooling Tower Demolition at Drakelow Power Station
A rare photograph capturing the moment of detonation. At exactly 09.00am on 20th December 1998 4 cooling towers at Drakelow Power Station were brought down in a controlled explosion. I was lucky enough to observe this event with my late father-in-law Richard Frost who along with his brother Dave was a longstanding site supervisor. The cacophony of sound from the spooked wildlife was as loud as the explosion itself.
