SO9892 : Ridgacre Branch Canal at Swan Island

taken 2 years ago, near to West Bromwich, Sandwell, England

Ridgacre Branch Canal at Swan Island
Ridgacre Branch Canal at Swan Island
The Ridgacre Branch left the Wednesbury Old Canal at Swan Lane Junction and ran for approximately a mile north-eastwards. Since the building of the Black Country Spine Road the branch has been inaccessible to boats: the bridge shown here is one of several that are closer to culverts in their size. The branch remains in water as a wildlife habitat and walkers' route.
