taken 2 years ago, near to Kirkton, South Lanarkshire, Scotland

Castle Hill Fort site
Castle Hill Fort site
This small but impressive prehistoric fort lies on a steep-sided mound on the lower slope of Castle Hill. Two steep gullies provided natural defence which was enhanced by building walls and deepening the ditches. This view looks towards Castle Hill and shows the gullies on both sides of the mound.
