SS7836 : Remnant old hedge

taken 2 years ago, 3 km from North Radworthy, Devon, England

Remnant old hedge
Remnant old hedge
In this area there are many old hedges built with stone and topped with beech trees. They are in various states of usefulness and the majority appeared to be untended in 2021 so the beech trees have grown very big. Maybe the missing parts of this hedge had their trees blown down in gales as this is an exposed hillside. Probably it is cheaper to put up a post and wire fence than to keep maintaining the beeches as a stock proof barrier.
