T1571 : White Heaps

taken 13 years ago, near to Croghan Bridge and Croghan, Wexford, Ireland

White Heaps
White Heaps
The inscription reads;
"After the battle of Vinegar Hill the Wexford army under A. Perry camped here, June-July 1798"
In 2008 it is still a good vantage point although with conifer forestation. The stone is also on the Wexford - left - and Wicklow - right - county boundary.
