Sheffield Bailey Bridge over River Don, Effingham St
The Sheffield Bailey Bridge over the River Don carries the Five Weirs Walk. This bailey bridge has found a peaceful home here and was originally used in the D-Day landings in Normandy. Sir Donald Bailey, inventor of the Bailey Bridge was born in nearby Rotherham.

Sir Donald Coleman Bailey, OBE (15 September 1901 – 5 May 1985) was an English civil engineer who invented the Bailey bridge. Field Marshal Montgomery is recorded as saying that "without the Bailey bridge, we should not have won the war." (source Wikipedia)
