Two Brick Structures on Nether Longford Moss
Two Brick Structures on Nether Longford Moss
Both structures look relatively new and measure about five feet square. The more intact one in the distance, which has a large cracked slab of concrete for a roof, is about three feet high. Although extremely poor quality farmland - part marsh and part bog - several large cowpats were dotted about, indicating that this large field, comprising most of what remains of Nether Longford Moss, is still used, occasionally at least, for grazing. So the low brick structures may have been put there to store supplementary animal feed, or as small sheepfolds, or to double up as both.
