J3675 : The 'Eduard Toll' at Belfast
taken 11 months ago, near to Queens Island, Ballymacarret, Sydenham and Ballyhackamore, Northern Ireland

The 'Eduard Toll' at Belfast
299m (96,839 DWT) Bahamian flagged LNG tanker 'Eduard Toll' Link
arriving into Harland and Wolff in Belfast.
The ship, launched in 2017, is a new class of vessel that can navigate in the freezing waters around the northern coast of Russia in all seasons. Working without an ice breaker, the ship can cope in up to 2.5 metres of ice heading normally and by going astern as a 'Double Acting Ship' Link
. Note that the bow is very different to other ships and, reinforced, is designed to ride over and then smash sea ice using the weight of the ship.
Owned (I think) by Bermuda based DY Tankers, the ship is on long-term charter to Yamal LNG Link
and is used to bring LNG from Russia to Asia and Europe.
The ship can hold up to 177,000 cubic metres of liquefied natural gas which is super-cooled to -162°C. The cooling process shrinks the volume of the gas 600 times, making it easier and safer to store and ship. In its liquid state, LNG will not ignite.
I think that the ship is named after Russian geologist and Arctic explorer Eduard Von Toll - Link
