Gun emplacement, Nigg Battery, Ross and Cromarty
Gun emplacement, Nigg Battery, Ross and Cromarty
Nigg was a WWII coastal battery with two gun emplacements. This is the western one. The building remained standing until the 1970s when it was bulldozed, along with the rest of the battery buildings, by the Cromarty Petroleum Company which had bought the land.

The yellow structures at Port of Nigg in the background are 'jackets' - bases for offshore wind turbines.
