A selection of images from the event to mark 50 years of the Leyland National bus, which brought many surviving vehicles home to Cumbria. The free event on Saturday 30 April and Sunday 1 May 2022 was based in Whitehaven, the historic Georgian town where the first bus entered public service in March 1972.
The event, organised by Workington Transport Heritage Trust Link included a display of Leyland Nationals and other Workington built vehicles at Whitehaven's harbour front together with exhibitions, film, talks and displays at the Portal annex of the Beacon Museum. A free park-and-ride service operated from Lakes College at Lillyhall Business Park. Furthermore, tours of Whitehaven and the former British Leyland bus factory at Lillyhall where all - over 7,700 - Nationals were constructed was facilitated by many preserved Leyland Nationals attending the event.
