Open Wide!
A juvenile starling being fed by its parent.
Starlings are conspicuous and widespread in the UK, occurring everywhere except for the highest parts of the Scottish Highlands. Still one of the UK's commonest garden birds, they are social birds that form large flocks and feed quickly in busy, squabbling groups where food is abundant. In winter, starlings from northern Europe join UK-resident birds.
