Dippool Burn
This is a particularly meandering section of the burn; it is just slightly too wide to jump at this point, one wet foot would be required to get across I reckon.
As part of my ongoing tree identification studies I can confirm that the tree on its bank is a willow, though exactly which one I am not sure. There are six species of willow in Britain, all native, and interbreeding is common - which I thought wasn't meant to happen between separate species, and in fact underpins the definition of a species, but what do I know?! Anyway, it's a handy excuse for not pinning it down at least. Along with a very similar one, hidden from view and directly behind it, it looked in a very bad way, with small long thin withered leaves.
If you don't like cows this isn't somewhere I'd recommend for a walk. Although it might look like this area is formed of several fields, there are bits of fence missing from them all, allowing the curious creatures to gallop towards you unexpectedly. I suppose you could always hug the burn and get a wet foot if necessary, but today I held my ground! The fields are damp in places, but never boggy, with lots of little undulations.
