SO2102 : Six Bells Colliery, Abertillery

taken 35 years ago, near to St Illtyd, Blaenau Gwent, Wales

Six Bells Colliery, Abertillery.
Six Bells Colliery, Abertillery.
This colliery dated from 1891 and was moribund in 1989. It has since been swept clear. We were here to see a small steam engine driven ventilating fan - a unique survivor (that didn't for much longer).
