Museum of Flight - Avro Vulcan
Museum of Flight - Avro Vulcan
The Avro Vulcan was originally designed as a high-altitude bomber, but some were later used for reconnaissance and air-to-air refuelling. See LinkExternal link for more details and history. In the foreground is a blast shelter, now filled in with concrete for safety reasons.
The Museum of Flight

The museum is a branch of the National Museums of Scotland and is sited at East Fortune, between Haddington and North Berwick. East Fortune airfield is itself a Scheduled Ancient Monument, being a largely complete and unaltered example of a wartime airfield.

The star exhibit is the original Concorde, G-BOAA, but there are also other aircraft out of doors, and hangars displaying military and civilian planes, plus some interactive exhibits demonstrating the science of flight.
