Ubique
The word means 'everywhere' and heads two panels, of which this is one, on the plinth of the Royal Artillery memorial at Hyde Park Corner. So many lives were lost from the regiment (49,076 in World War I, 29,924 in World War II) that instead of individual names, only the places around the world where they fell are listed. 'The high seas' alludes to many who were either buried at sea, or whose ships sank without trace. See TQ2879 : The Royal Artillery memorial at Hyde Park Corner for context and more information.
By my reckoning, on the extreme left of this image Basher has captured the steps up to number 46, from which address Lord Lucan disappeared 40 years ago today.
