Castles of Leinster: Trim, Talbot's Castle, Meath (1)
This three storeyed tower and adjoining long building near to the Yellow Steeple was probably once the refectory of the Augustinian abbey. The building is commonly known as Talbot's Castle, after the early C15 Lord Lieutenant Sir John Talbot who converted it into a manor house, and whose arms appear on the north wall of the tower. Still in private occupation, the building has C19 windows, and was remodelled c.1909.
