The rising sun at the start of Britain's hottest day
A view of the rising sun from Cheswick Sands at 0458 hrs. 40.3°C was recorded at Coningsby, Lincolnshire, exceeding the previous record by 1.6°C whilst in Berwickshire (geographically closer to Cheswick Sands) a new Scottish record of 34.8°C was recorded at Charterhall. In the end, a morning and evening visit to Cheswick Sands was made, and much of the day spent staying out of the intense heat!
