The Golden Fleece, The Quay, Wells-next-the-Sea
Grade II Listed and modernised early 18th century inn. Plaster mouldings are dated to c.1710 but the 'Fleece' is recorded in Court Records in 1642. A September 1777 advertisement reports that William Bushell, newly arrived at the house, had installed new beds for the increased comfort of his guests. J A Davidson paid £720 for the property in 1905. By 1932 it was a Bullards house (acquired by Watney Mann Ltd. 1963). By 1975 it was Chef & Brewer and Punch Taverns from about 2006. It now (2022) seems to be part of Norfolk Coastal Pubs that wasn't incorporated until April 2012.
