NT0054 : Scarecrow Guarding Gate

taken 2 years ago, near to Auchengray, South Lanarkshire, Scotland

Scarecrow Guarding Gate
Scarecrow Guarding Gate
This oddly-positioned scarecrow must either be waiting to be deployed at another location in the field when the crop gets taller, or be here to stay, owing his existence to children who needed to be found something to do in the recent summer holidays. I did consider asking the farmer who I had just passed in an adjoining field, but decided he looked a bit too preoccupied trying to fix some contraption that his tractor was towing.
The gate is off the track that leads from the tiny hamlet of Polkelly to Muirhall Windfarm. The scary scarecrow has been stuffed with straw from the pile to the left of the gate, which is a taller than normal one, measuring about five feet high.
