St Magnus Cathedral (north)
St Magnus Cathedral (north)
St Magnus Cathedral, Kirkwall, Orkney, the most northerly cathedral in the UK, taken from the north side where the nave meets the transept. The cathedral was founded in 1137 by Earl Rognvald, nephew of the martyred St Magnus, and was constructed of red and yellow sandstone which give the building its distinctive hue.
