Jewel Tower at Westminster
Built around 1365 to house Edward III’s treasures and was known as the ‘King’s Privy Wardrobe’. Fine 14th-c vaults. Used to house Royal Treasure until Henry VIII moved to the Palace of Whitehall, formerly Cardinal Wolsey's residence (one of) York Place. The Jewel Tower was then used as an archive by the House of Lords.
